Netflix has set its sights on a famous fairy tale with a dance-filled twist. Sabrina Carpenter recently signed with the streaming service to produce and star in a colorful reimagining of the classic Lewis Carroll story, Alice in Wonderland, with her new company, At Last Productions.
Carpenter starred in the hit Netflix dance flick, Work It, earlier this year and will be re-teaming with the same crew for her Alice in Wonderland musical. Unlike the 2010 Disney portrayal of Alice in Wonderland, the Netflix version will be a more contemporary take on the tale. While details are under wraps, the modern musical is rumored to focus on a music festival called Wonderland.
Ross Evans (Catch the Moon) will write the screenplay. The film does not yet have a release date, but we will keep you updated as more details become available.
