Get ready for a major sugar rush. The sugary, marshmallowy treat that everyone loves is starring in a major motion picture. That’s right, the famous Easter candy Peeps is being turned into a film by Christine and Mark Holder (The Mauritanian) of Wonder Street.
The upcoming Peeps movie is being marketed as a sweet ‘Trolls meets The Smurfs’ children’s film. Peeps will follow a group of marshmallow birds as they travel to Peepsfest in Pennsylvania. Peeps parent company, Just Born, known for making over 2 billion Peeps a year, is excited about the brand’s film debut.
Keith Domalewski, Director of Marketing & Consumer Engagement at Just Born, recently said, “Peeps Chicks and Bunnies have been ingrained in American pop culture for nearly seven decades due to their instantly-recognizable shapes and fan-favorite Marshmallow taste, making them the perfect characters to bring to life on the big screen...We hope the new Peeps film spreads sweetness to families across the country and provides inspiration for fans to express their ‘Peepsonality’ in new ways!”
Would you watch a movie based on Peeps? Or, do you think it will be seen as a feature-length commercial for the candy?
