When Apple joined the streaming wars last fall with the launch of Apple TV+, it offered many users a free 12-month subscription instead of paying the $4.99 monthly fee. As the end of the year-long free trial is almost up for many subscribers, Apple has said that it’s extending the free subscription.

All Apple TV+ customers whose subscriptions are set to expire between November 1, 2020 and January 31, 2020 will continue to have free access to the service through February 2021. Those who signed up for Apple TV+ before November 1, 2020 will receive a $4.99 monthly credit through February 2021.

While Apple has not officially stated how many people have signed up for the streaming service, Bloomberg estimates that Apple TV+ had over 10 million subscribers as of February 2020. However, Ampere Analysis estimates that the vast majority of its subscribers are using the free offer.

Apple TV+ currently offers critically-acclaimed shows and films like Defending Jacob, Greyhound, The Morning Show, See, and Dickinson.
