It seems these days, there's a major social media scandal everytime you check your feed. Armie Hammer, star of Call Me By Your Name, and most recently, Netflix's Rebecca, has found himself at the epicenter of a recent social media uproar.
The actor has been trending across social platforms since last weekend. A series of posts were revealed, that showed direct messages Hammer allegedly sending, the content of which relates to torrid love affairs and even cannibalism. To date, Hammer has not directly commented on these claims publicly.
Originally set to star along with Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Lopez in the upcoming Lionsgate film Shotgun Wedding, Hammer is removing himself from the production, leaving his role to be recast. In a statement, Hammer said:
“I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”
More to follow as this story unfolds.
