Plans for the sequel to Black Panther were initially halted due to the coronavirus shutdown, and were delayed again due to the unexpected death of Chadwick Boseman this past August. Filming was originally set to begin in March 2021, but filmmaker Ryan Coogler and Marvel paused all talks for a period of time to process their grief.

However, multiple sources have come forward to say that Marvel is gearing up to start filming Black Panther 2. The rumored shoot will begin in July 2021 and last about six months. Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, and Winston Duke are set to return for the sequel with many saying that Wright will take on a more prominent role.

Marvel has not officially confirmed this news, but they have said they will not use CGI to add the late Boseman to the sequel.
