Jerry Harris is a cheerleader who climbed to stardom after debuting on the Netflix docuseries, Cheer, this past January. His pep caught the attention of celebrities, giving him the chance to go on stage with Oprah Winfrey, interview celebrities for the Oscars as part of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and appear in an Instagram video for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Now, Harris is being investigated by the FBI due to accusations that Harris solicited sex and nude images from minors.

A spokesperson from the Chicago bureau told TheWrap, “The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity in the area. We have no further comment,” after searching a home in Naperville, Illinois as part of the investigation.

Varsity, a large company in the cheerleading industry, prompted the investigation by notifying the police of the accusations against Harris. The company’s chief legal officer, Burton Brillhart, notified authorities on August 1. He wrote, “As a result of the recent allegation, we have barred this person from having any affiliation with Varsity Brands or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, now and in the future.” Harris was a former employee of Varsity, but was not working at the company during the incidents.

As of now, Harris has not responded to the accusations.
