Fans of Disney's Star Wars universe series The Mandalorian have recently taken to social media to demand The Mandalorian star Gina Carano be fired. Carano currently plays seasoned warrior Cara Dune on the hit Disney+ show.

Carano sparked controversy back in November 2020 for posting misinformed tweets about mask wearing and voter fraud in the U.S. election. She has also been accused of mocking trans pronouns on social media. Now, fans are once again taking up the hashtag #FireGinaCarano for a recent Instagram post that many interpret as compairing the vilification of Republicans to how the Jewish population was treated during the Holocaust.

Even though Carano has since removed both posts from her profile, the images are still circulating the internet with calls for her immediate firing. She has yet to make a statement on this most recent controversy; however, she has apologized for controversial social media posts in the past.

When she was accused of being transphonic for putting the words “beep/bop/boop” in her bio to make light of pronouns, she eventually reached out to others in order to better educate herself. She reportedly asked co-star Pedro Pascal to explain the reasoning behind the importance of pronouns. At the time, she said, “He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios. I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to. I stand against bullying, especially the most vulnerable & [support] freedom to choose.”

Fans have suggested New Zealand-born actor Lucy Lawless take over the role of Cara Dune, citing that Xena: Warrior Princess star and LGBT rights icon would be an excellent replacement.

Stay tuned for updates on whether Carano issues a statement in response to the calls for her to be fired, and if Disney decides to take action.
