Fans of the groundbreaking NBC sitcom have long awaited a reunion of their favorite Friends. A reunion special was announced last year, and production is set to begin on the Warner Bros. lot this week, but the episode won’t be what fans are expecting. In a turn of events, it’s been revealed that the Friends cast will not be reprising their famous character roles for the reunion episode. David Schwimmer, has gone on record saying that the cast will be appearing as themselves for a retrospective special.
Despite the news that the cast will not be reprising as their iconic characters, we do know that Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Courtney Cox, and Matthew Perry will all appear in the special.
Schwimmer recently said on the Graham Norton Show, “I’ll be myself. I’ll be David. There’s nothing scripted. We’re not in character ... yeah ... so it’s all, we’re all ourselves...The real people. Although there is one section of it that, I don’t want to give away, but where we, we all read something.”
While the story of the reunion special is under wraps, it looks like the cast have something special in the works for fans of the series.
The premiere date for the special, which will air exclusively on HBO Max, has not yet been set. Stay tuned to Stardust for the latest updates.
