As director Ridley Scott wraps up shooting his latest film The Last Duel, he is already setting his sights on his next big movie. Scott will be teaming up with Joker star and Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix for a film about the French military leader and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, titled Kitbag. Screenwriter David Scarpa (All the Money in the World) will write the script.
The obscure title is in reference to the old phrase, “There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag.” Kitbag will dive into Napoleon’s origins and take a more personal look at his quick and ruthless rise to power. The film will also dive deeper into Napoleon's complicated relationship with his wife, Josephine.
Before Scott starts to work on Kitbag, he is first set to travel to Italy to begin filming Gucci next March.
