Another Round, a Danish dramedy starring Mads Mikkelsen, won the Oscar for Best International Film at the 93 Academy Awards last night...and Leonardo DiCaprio is already being eyed to star in a remake of the film.
The film follows four friends who go on a wild drinking binge to see if consistently maintaining a certain blood-alcohol level improves their creativity—and if it will affect their lives.
While there is no formal deal for DiCaprio to take on the leading role in the remake, we do know the award-winning film was acquired by DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way. Apparently, Appian Way was in an intense three-way bidding war with Jake Gyllenhaal’s production company, Nine Stories, and Elizabeth Banks’ production company, Brownstone Productions.
While DiCaprio’s company won the rights, it is uncertain whether he will take on the lead role himself. However, we do know original director Thomas Vinterberg will act as executive producer on the remake.
