Alright, alright, alright! Matthew McConaughey is set to reprise his famous role as attorney Jake Brigance from the 1996 hit film A Time to Kill in a new HBO series
A Time to Kill was based on the John Grisham book of the same name and the new series, A Time for Mercy, is based on another of Grisham’s novels. In A Time to Kill, Brigance defends a Black man (Samuel L. Jackson) who killed the two white men who raped his daughter.
While no writer is currently attached to A Time for Mercy, HBO says the plot will follow Brigance as he defends a young man who killed his mother’s boyfriend, a deputy sheriff, who abused his entire family.
McConaughey is best known for his extensive film work, but has shown his aptitude for television by receiving an Emmy nomination for his work on the series True Detective.
