Even the greatest Mortal Kombat warriors can’t fight studio delays.
The upcoming release for video game adaptation of Mortal Kombat has been delayed a week. Now, instead of premiering on April 16, Mortal Kombat will debut in theaters and on HBO Max on April 23. Rumor has it that the release change is due to studio executives hoping to give Godzilla vs. Kong more time in theaters as one of the only blockbusters at the box office.
Plus, with Los Angeles moving into a less restrictive tier starting Wednesday March 31, Warner Bros. expects more movie lovers to go to theaters. The less restrictive tier allows cinemas in LA to reopen at 50% capacity, and comes just in time for Godzilla vs. Kong’s premiere tomorrow.
Do you think it was a good idea for Warner Bros. to push Mortal Kombat back a week?
