Netflix is not here to play around.
In order to further its already competitive edge against newer, fast-growing streaming services like HBO Max and Disney+, Netflix has just purchased the rights to all potential Knives Out sequels. That’s right, any new engrossing mysteries that director Rian Johnson is plotting will debut on Netflix.
So far, two sequels to the 2019 hit film Knives Out are in the works. Johnson has not hinted at what the stories will be about, but we do know that Daniel Craig will be putting on his Southern drawl, as he is set to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc in both films.
Knives Out garnered $311.4 million at the box office on a modest $40 million budget. Only time will tell if Netflix’s new $450 million investment in Knives Out 2 and 3 will put them further ahead in the streaming wars.
Will you watch Knives Out 2 and 3 on Netflix, or would you prefer to see the sequels on the big screen? Do you think Netflix will remain on top in the streaming wars?
