A key cinematographer on the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight has officially confirmed what fans have long hoped for: Oscar Isaac will play the titular hero in the new Marvel show.
Cinematopher Gregory Middleton wrote in an Instagram post,
“Well the secret is out. It’s an honor to be a part of introducing a new character to the MCU #MoonKnight. Who says cinematographers worry about white costumes! ... not if they are complex characters played by an amazing performer like @officialoscarrisaac .
Thank you director Mohamed Diab and the #mcu for inviting me aboard.”
Oscar Isaac is no stranger to Disney—he played the iconic Poe Dameron in the sequel Star Wars trilogy. Isaac is also well-versed in action movies with his upcoming film, Dune, which was set to premiere in December 2020, but has been postponed until October 2021.
Moon Knight debuted in the 70s as a Marvel comic. While the plot behind the Marvel series is currently under lock and key, we can guess that it will pull heavily from the comics. How cool would it be to watch Marc Spector (a.k.a. Moon Knight) get his superhuman powers from the Egyptian moon god Khonshu on television?!
Luckily, Moon Knight is in good creative hands. Key cinematographer Middleton has worked on several distinguished series, including Game of Thrones and HBO’s Watchmen. Middleton joins writer Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, The Originals), showrunner Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy, Fantastic Four), and director Mohamed Diab (Clash).
Are you looking forward to watching Moon Knight on Disney? What other Marvel shows are you excited to watch?
