New streaming services are setting their sights on nostalgia to bring in new customers. Peacock, which recently snatched The Office from Netflix, is adding another classic sitcom to their library. Only this time, there’s a twist.
The network has revived the beloved 80s sitcom, Punky Brewster. The revival will follow a grown-up Punky, played by Soleil Moon Frye, who is now a single mom of three children. Cherie Johnson will reprise her original role as Punky’s best friend.
In the original series, Punky was an intelligent young girl who was being raised by a foster dad. The new series follows an adult Punky as she raises her children—and meets a young girl in the foster system that reminds her of herself when she was a kid. The 10 new episodes will premiere on February 25th.
If you can’t wait until February to watch the Punky Brewster revival, all four seasons of the original series are available to stream on Peacock.
