‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ gets release date
Back in August, production kicked off on Guillermo del Toro’s latest project; the movie adaptation of ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’.
Today, Lionsgate announced that it will be hitting theaters on August 9, 2019.
The movie - based off the popular collection of short stories of the same name by Alvin Schwartz - stars Michael Garza (‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’, ‘Wayward Pines’), Austin Abrams (‘Brad’s Status’), Gabriel Rush (‘Moonrise Kingdom’, ‘Better Call Saul’), Austin Zajur (‘Fist Fight’) and Natalie Ganzhorn (‘Make it Pop’) as a group of teenagers who take on the task of solving who is responsible for the grisly murders taking place in their small town.
The screenplay was written by del Toro (he’s also producing) and his ‘Trollhunter’ colleagues, Kevin & Dan Hagemen (‘The Lego Movie’). André Øvredal ('The Autopsy of Jane Doe') is directing.
Were you a fan of the short stories? Looking forward to catching this in theaters?
