The Flash film has been shrouded in mystery, not to mention the subject of multiple delays, ever since it was announced that it was set to begin filming in 2017 after Justice League wrapped. Now, nearly four years later, The Flash film has finally begun filming and just announced that Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) will play Supergirl.
From over 425 actors who auditioned for the role, Calle won the role of Supergirl and has earned the honor of being the first Latina Supergirl in the DC universe.
The Flash director said, “I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.” Calle also had a successful chemistry read with Ezra Miller, who is playing the titular hero.
Many are comparing Calle’s unexpected casting to Gal Gadot landing the role of Wonder Woman. Taking a relatively new, fresh face and casting them in a major blockbuster has the potential to rocket any actor into stardom.
Are you excited to see Calle as Supergirl in the upcoming The Flash movie?
