Bedrock is back!
Warner Bros’ The Flintstones will be hitting TV screens again, over 60 years since the last season of the original animated series ended in 1965. Fox is set to develop the series with actor and producer Elizabeth Banks, who will both executive produce the show as well as voice an adult Pebbles Flintstone. Lindsay Kurns (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!) will be writing the upcoming series.
The animated sequel series will be titled Bedrock and is set 20 years after the original series took place. While many details are still under wraps, we do know the show will follow a soon-to-be-retired Fred Flintstone and his now adult daughter Pebbles as she starts her journey in the working world. The Stone Age will melt into the Bronze Age and send the characters reeling with shocking new trends and evolutions.
President of entertainment for Fox Entertainment, Michael Thorn, said, “Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock...Their imprint on the animation universe is undeniable and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at Fox are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros., Elizabeth and Lindsay. No pressure whatsoever, really.”
