Disney has made several changes to its release schedule, most recently with the Black Widow delay. Now, fans of the mystery film series that began with Murder on the Orient Express are wondering if Disney will make an even more drastic change to the upcoming Death on the Nile film, on account of Armie Hammer’s involvement.

Death on the Nile was most recently delayed for the sixth time from its September 2020 release date until Valentine’s Day 2022, but critics wonder if it will face further delays. Actor Armie Hammer, who is starring in the film, has been dropped by his talent agency and all future film projects in the wake of rape accusations and allegations of abuse. Sources say that Hammer played a large role in Death on the Nile, which makes reshoots nearly impossible.

A rival studio executive told Variety, “It seems like the only way to go with this is to come out front and say, ‘Hundreds of people worked on this project, and we’re not scrapping it because of one individual.” The executive, who preferred to remain anonymous, thinks that Disney might debut it on their adult-oriented streaming service Hulu and skip a theatrical release altogether.

Hammer continues to deny all allegations against him and his attorney said that Hammer “has maintained that all of his interactions … have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.”

Would you still watch Death on the Nile despite the fact it stars Armie Hammer?
